Dr. Purushothama Bilimale, Chairman of the Kannada Development Authority, Government of Karnataka, visited Malaibar Foundation

Dr. Bilimale is a distinguished folklorist and author who has published extensively on caste, folklore, literature, and cultural identity. He currently serves as Chairman of the Kannada Development Authority. Previously, he served as Professor of Kannada at the Kannada Language Chair at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, which he himself established. He has also served as Director of the American Institute of Indian Studies, New Delhi.

During his visit, Dr. Bilimale explored Foundation’s Rare Book and Manuscript Library and Centre for Folklore Studies, where he familiarised himself with the Foundation’s projects, collections, and research initiatives. He appreciated the Foundation’s efforts to preserve and promote the region’s rich cultural heritage, particularly its initiatives in digitising rare books and manuscripts. He also shared valuable suggestions and insights to support and strengthen the Foundation’s ongoing digitisation efforts.
